Principles, Standards & Ethics
As professional mediators, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of family mediation and we abide by the Code of Practice laid down by the Family Mediation Council (FMC). Our mediators are accredited by FMC Member Organisations including the Family Mediators Association, the National Family Mediation or Resolution.
You can click the icons below to get more details of the relevant Codes of Practice. Furthermore, your mediator will let you know which body is responsible for your sessions.
Family Mediators Association
The Family Mediators Association, established in 1988, is a membership organisation for family mediators representing over 400 family mediators. FMA is a lead body and founding member of the Family Mediation Council (FMC), which co-ordinates regulation of and develops common standards for professional family mediators.
Resolution’s 6,500 members are family lawyers and other professionals committed to the constructive resolution of family disputes. Our members follow a Code of Practice that promotes a non-confrontational approach to family problems. Our members encourage solutions that consider the needs of the whole family – and in particular the best interests of children.
